Nextdoor Nature BS1 & BS5

Nextdoor Nature
100% of key members agreed or strongly agreed that their local area is a better place to live and that the project has been meaningful to them and their community.
Nextdoor Nature

Since 2022 we have been working with communities in Redcliffe, St George, Easton and Barton Hill. Through community organising we have worked collaboratively with these local communities, listening to their values, connecting them with local organisations, organising relevant training, helping with accessing funding, and guiding plans for improving areas for wildlife.

The project has enabled communities to build a greater awareness of, and connection to, nature in their neighbourhood, such as the need for diverse food sources, water and shelter that support our wildlife neighbours.

The project has had a positive effect on people’s physical and mental wellbeing with 100% either agreed or strongly agreed that their overall happiness has improved.

Nextdoor Nature is bringing communities together to help nature flourish where they live and work! Thanks to £5million funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Nextdoor Nature will provide people with the advice and support they need to help nature on their doorstep, and leave a lasting natural legacy in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Team Wilder

All four projects are registered on the Team Wilder Community Map and are networked with the Wider movement. There is a wealth of resources and case studies on the Team Wilder webpage to support their journey beyond the life of the project.  Each project has signs with QR codes to be located in the community that link to their film or case study and include other useful Team Wilder resources to inspire passersby and others in their community. Redcliffe Community Garden and The Beehive have an ecological report with practical actions they can undertake beyond the life of the project.  The TWEAS service will offer additional support with a follow up consultation.

Warmley Nature Action Zone

Funding from South Glos Council has enabled the Trust to use the community organising approach to deliver a Warmley Community Nature Reserve. The Council will be working on their land while the Trust works with the surrounding residents to enhance their gardens for wildlife.
