Outdoor learning and play workshops for educators

Avon Wildlife Trust leads outdoor learning and play sessions for hundreds of children of all ages every year. Our practical workshops help educators develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver inspiring wild play and outdoor learning in their setting. Courses are tailor-made to your needs and interests, please contact us for more details or explore our workshop options below. 

Full day workshop: £300 (up to 20 staff)    Half day workshop: £150 (up to 20 staff)

Twilight session or session in team meeting (1.5hrs): £100 (upto 20 staff)

Online twilight session: £8 per person

* Thanks to generous support from our supporters, including the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are able to offer a limited number of free or subsidised places on our workshops for our 'My Wild City' schools, and for some schools in Weston-Super-Mare, please contact us for more information

Introduction to outdoor learning for educators

Explore the basics of planning and leading excellent nature-based outdoor learning, in this session designed to build confidence and skills. We will discuss how to overcome barriers, risks vs benefits of outdoor learning, and try out a range of science, maths and teamwork-focused activities.

Improving school grounds for nature, play and learning

Schools and early year grounds can be havens for nature as well as children. Working together we will create a plan to create more space for nature in your setting, and discuss the practicalities of creating inspiring and manageable spaces for nature learning and play.

 

Nature Art

Outdoor learning across the curriculum

Aimed at educators looking to go beyond the basics, in this session we discuss and try out a range of activities to support learning across the curriculum. Depending on your focus we will include ideas for teaching maths, literacy, geography, art, local history and science

 

Wellbeing

Using nature to support children’s wellbeing

This session draws on Avon Wildlife Trust’s experience of supporting wellbeing through connection with nature. We will discuss the theories behind our approach and try out various techniques designed to support young people to develop emotional awareness, motivation and purpose, and resourceful thinking

Gain inspiration, confidence and practical ideas for leading nature-based play sessions in your setting. Discover how to support children to make the most of your patch of nature through wild play, story, song, craft and exploration.
