Would you like to spend more time outside this winter? Take part in fun nature activities whilst learning more about wildlife? Then you should sign up to the Wildlife Trust’s 12 Days Wild!
12 Days Wild is our festive nature challenge, encouraging you to do one wild thing a day from the 25th December to the 5th January each year. In those quiet days between Christmas and New Year, winter wildlife is just waiting to be explored! Your wild acts could be little things to help nature - like recycling your Christmas tree or feeding the birds – or ways to connect to the natural world, like taking in the calm of stargazing. You could go for a walk around your local park, explore a nearby nature reserve, listen to singing bird, identify some winter berries, organise a litter pick or just spend a mindful moment sat in the garden. It is totally up to you what ‘wild act’ you decide but challenge yourself to do it every single day.
Spending time in nature has been shown to be great for our physical and mental health. This could be even more important during the winter when we might feel inclined to get outside less. Over 75% of participants in 12 Days wild in 2021 said they felt happier after taking part in the challenge!
