Give a tip to Team Wilder!

When faced with climate change and the devastating impact of habitat loss, it can be hard to know what we can do to protect the wildlife we love. But small actions which make space for nature on a local level can make a big difference.

Team Wilder is a growing community of people, working together to champion nature-friendly practices and create green corridors. Whether it’s a group coming together to practice wildlife-friendly food growing, or something simple like installing a bee hotel or window box with pollinator-friendly plants, every action creates valuable stepping stones for wildlife, linking up larger green spaces where nature can thrive

This spring, we need your help to empower and resource inspiring local people who are working to create a healthier and more wildlife-rich environment across our region.

Your generous gift could provide the tools, knowledge and skills communities need to transform their local green spaces into dynamic, connected safe havens where wildlife can flourish.

Bernie, a local Wildlife Champion in Fishponds, has been the glue bringing her local community together to set up ‘Herbs Yourself’ – a culinary and medicinal herb garden grown from an abandoned patch of land at the edge of Eastville Park. Now, the community garden has become an oasis for both people and wildlife, with signs that slow worms, badgers and foxes call this place home!

Your gift could help support wonderful Wildlife Champions like Bernie as they take community-led action to transform local green spaces, through providing site-specific advice, training and a network of peers who can work together to make Avon a wilder and more nature-friendly place

I want to make twice the impact for people and wildlife

Team Wilder aims to tackle the global problem of biodiversity loss on a super-local level, making actions which care for nature on a day-to-day basis the ‘new norm’.

So far, we have supported 20 wildlife champions as they developed community-led projects across 12 postcodes, and have worked with 118 local community groups as they take action for nature on their patch – but our work to create real, long-term change doesn’t stop here.

Donate this spring to help make taking action for nature a social norm. Your gift could help showcase the work local wildlife pioneers are doing to make space for nature in their community, inspiring others to take nurturing nature into their own hands.

Through your generous donation, you could help support a further 200 community groups and empower more people to take action for nature in every postcode in Avon!

What’s more, if you donate online before midday on Tuesday 29 April, your donation will be doubled, thanks to Big Give’s green Match Fund! Simply visit www.avonwildlifetrust.org.uk/tip-team-wilder and make twice the impact for people and wildlife this spring!
